How do you explain the price?
Our Kelpon is a patented innovation made from seaweed, which we deliberately produce in Europe. The seaweed is harvested under strict controls and in compliance with EU regulations, and manufacturing takes place in Germany. This is more labor-intensive than conventional tampons, but for us, it’s the standard for true innovation and responsibility. On top of that, we’re currently still producing in small batches—with your support, we can place larger orders and lower costs for everyone—for us and for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the Kelpon cost more than a conventional tampon?
The Kelpon is not a standard product, but a patented technological innovation based on seaweed. This makes it more complex to manufacture than conventional tampons and, for now, more expensive.
We manufacture in Europe
Our supply chain is intentionally more regional than that of many conventional period products. This means higher, yet fair, standards, shorter transport routes, and better control over quality.
Regulated raw materials, manufacturing in Germany
Our seaweed is monitored and harvested in accordance with applicable EU regulations; tampon production takes place in Germany. This costs more than global discount chains, but for us it is a promise of quality and responsibility.
Innovation instead of stagnation
The Kelpon is a product that has hardly changed in decades. We invest in research, development, and scaling so that period products become healthier, more sustainable, and better. We don’t want a luxury tampon—we want a premium product.
Why is the Kelpon better for my microbiome?
Many conventional products dry out mucous membranes or contain chemicals that can disrupt the natural balance. Our algae fibers are naturally biocompatible and extremely gentle. They respect your flora and ensure a comfortable wearing experience without irritation.
Why isn't the Kelpon green?
Since we use an extract for the Kelpon and not the whole algae, the color pigments don't even get into the tampon fibers. The extract is naturally white-beige, so we don't have to bleach the tampons - a small gift from nature.
And, of course, it generally makes sense to use white menstrual products because the color of menstrual fluid can provide insights into one's health.
If the Kelpon is biodegradable, won't it dissolve inside me?
The biodegradability of the Kelpon is very important to us, and we expect it to biodegrade both on land and in water within a few weeks.
However, since the Kelpon remains in the body for only a few hours, you don't have to worry about it dissolving there.
How is Kelpon made?
The Kelpon consists internally of a biotechnologically produced fiber derived from brown algae (kelp).
This fiber is extremely absorbent, naturally soft and – unlike cotton – very smooth, which makes insertion and removal particularly comfortable
Can I dispose of Kelpon in the organic waste?
Theoretically, the Kelpon is 100% biodegradable – that's the ingenious part! However, since menstrual blood is considered potential bio-waste, it officially belongs in residual waste in Germany. The big difference: unlike plastic tampons, it leaves no microplastics there and decomposes in record time instead of lasting for centuries.
